Read what the media have had to say about Farnham ....
A winding 90-minute drive from Dublin through Irish hamlets, past quaint public houses, misty lanes and star-spangled skies leads to the Radisson Farnham Estate Hotel, Cavan. I arrive late at night but can’t fail to be uplifted by my stylish room…first thing in the morning, I pull back the dramatic velvet curtains with glee - the view overlooks a ‘storybook path’ leading toward mysterious woodlands.

I loved the ambience of the spa, the treatments rooms were larger than the norm; they were spacious and bright. One of my regular treatments is reflexology, I love it and I believe in it and I am quite opinionated about it. I had an hour with Wissam, a charming Syrian; he handpicked a reviving oil mix of rosemary, pine and sweet orange, he slowly and methodically worked through my feet and he was spot on when he diagnosed a blockage in my shoulder, a blockage in my mouth and inability to relax- absolutely right – I was very impressed by him!

The hotel boasts 150 stylish bedrooms ( the contemporary style fused with the 700 year old house is amazing!), and some seriously decadent treatments including a caviar facial. Not to be missed.

The entire effect was a perfect blend of the minimalist and luxurious; cool and deep comfort, with no excess clutter. The spa … truly the highlight. Devilishly cunning design was everywhere evident, and most polite and pleasant attendants promptly appeared and disappeared as needed along the way. One feels that Lord Farnham, God bless him, would have approved and appreciated.

"If the image of having Opalescent fish eggs smeared over your face is enough to have you hiding under your treatment bed, well think again. The caviar facial is the rolls royce of facials and just about as decadent as they come..."

World’s Top New 138 Hotels
“At first glance, this comely country house appears not to have changed in the 300 years it has stood on this site. Its presence however, is a bit of trompe l’oeil: Behind the façade is a bright, thoroughly modern lobby and a newly constructed wing. The focus here is on health and relaxation, centred around the 40,000 sq ft state-of-the-art spa, including a stimulating menthol aromatherapy chamber. The 150 rooms in the new wing are compact, comfortable and handsomely appointed in natural woods, while the eight in the original house are gloriously large, quiet and decorated with a tastefully restrained hand. An 18 hole golf course is set to open next year; until then guests can get their fill of Ireland’s green on the estate’s four miles of walking trails. When to go: Year round. Mild Winters allow golf throughout most of the year. Which room to book: Any in the original house for the best views, the most space and a stately feel”

Cavan Cool
“Farnham is a mixture of classic and funky, a grand drawing room gives way to a hot pink lounge with a swirl of a sofa that seems to invite a little mischief. The rooms in the new part of the hotel are contemporary – with little twists and touches…… The best rooms, however are in the old house and if you’re planning to indulge, it’s really worth upgrading to one of the suites, such as The Farnham or The Bedell, where fireplaces, magnificent bathtubs and opulent beds await…….
Leaving the next day. I realized that while I say I want to live in the countryside, like many people, my life is in the city – and that’s why places like Farnham are so wonderful, little interludes to rebalance and restore us mind, body and soul.”

“…. Come here midweek to create your own retreat, or be a weekender and indulge. … This is an hotel spa, but it’s no afterthought. The treatments are consistently excellent, from facials to therapeutic sports massages. Alongside gorgeous-smelling Aromatherapy Associates products, it uses a botanical range by Swedish company Kirstin Florian, which devised Farnham’s signature treatment, The Farnham Cure, a two-hour total relaxation ritual involving steam, hydrotherapy, wild flower bath, mineral mud wrap, mini facial and full body massage. .. Hotel interiors are contemporary and effectively decked out with giant photographs of the flora, fauna, forests and lakes of the estate taken during different seasons. In the evenings, the lounge bar area makes a more cosy and inspiring eating space …”

Estate of Bliss
“Although a relative newcomer to the hotel scene, the Radisson SAS Farnham Estate Hotel has quickly established itself as one of the best hotels in the country, not least because of its spa, which is unlike anything else in Ireland. The spa is vast at over 40,000 sq ft but it manages to remain intimate and cosy. Its certainly one of the most beautiful spas we’ve ever seen. The waiting room is luxurious but understated, with a beautiful open fire, couches to sink into and muted décor, inspired by natural tones. The spa’s interior is genius – managing to feel modern, calming and health-inducing without resorting to the usual blonde woods and clinical white … your could easily spend an entire weekend in this spa and never run out of things to do….. Take your bridesmaids for girly fun or your fiancé for a romantic escape – either way, you’ll never want to leave.”

“ Why stay here? Chic design meets rural luxury in this historic house turned luxury spa resort. Luckily for us, it’s not as formidably trendy as all that though. Here, you really can sit back and relax – there is a lovely mix of people, both clientele and international staff – and set as it is in 1,300 acres of parkland, the whole vibe is seriously chilled and self-spoiling.”
